An unnamed source confirmed to FighterPath that the UFC is targeting a bantamweight bout between Kevin Natividad and Danaa Batgerel at UFC 261. The source has asked to remain anonymous as there has yet to be an official announcement from the promotion.
Mongolia’s Danaa Batgerel (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is one of the brightest prospects out of Asia on the UFC roster. After losing his UFc debut in 2019, he rebounded in March of last year by knocking out Guido Cannetti. He is 8-2 as a professional with six victories by way of stoppage.
Kevin Natividad (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was initially signed in September as a short notice replacement for Brian Kelleher. The bout was scrapped after Natividad tested positive for COVID-19. He turned around a month later facing Miles Johns in a losing effort. The Hawaiian is 9-2 as a professional with five stoppage victories.
UFC 261 is scheduled to take place on April 24 at an unknown location, however it is expected to be the UFC Apex. At this time, no main event has been named. A UFC Middleweight bout between Chris Weidman and Uriah Hall has been announced for the card along with a Light Heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Jimmy Crute.
