A source confirmed to FighterPath that the UFC is targeting a welterweight bout between Mike Perry and Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 189 on April 10. The source has asked to remain anonymous as there has yet to be an official announcement from the promotion.
Mike Perry (14-7 MMA, 7-7 UFC) will be returning to the third time since UFC started back up in June. In June he won a unanimous decision over Mikey Gall with his girlfriend in his corner. Back in November, he faced UFC veteran Tim Means in a unanimous decision loss. Of his 14 pro victories, 11 were by knockout.
Daniel Rodriguez (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) burst into the UFC with an upset victory over Tim Means. He followed that up with consecutive wins over Gabriel Green and Dwight Grant. Back in November, Rodriguez suffered just his second ever defeat in a loss to Nicolas Dalby. 10 of his 13 victories were decided inside the distance.
UFC Fight Night 189 is scheduled to take place on April 10 at an unknown location, however it is expected to be the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. At this time, no main event has been named. It is believed a middleweight bout between Darren Till and Marvin Vettori will serve as the headliner.
