Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman will collide in the main event of UFC 258 to determine the world’s best welterweight. The two long-time friends and training partners have been scheduled to compete against each other three times in the past year.
Kamaru Usman has dominated his way to the 170lb title, and has been one of the most dominant champions in his reign. With wins over Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal under his belt as champion, Burns presents a new challenger to the champion.
Gilbert Burns emerged as one of the nominees for fighters of the year for 2019 and 2020 going 5-0 in that time. Burns would take on all comers including wins over Demian Maia and Tyron Woodley in 2020 to earn his first title shot.
